The Alaska Film Forum was founded in December of 2010 to encouraging independent filmmaking through exhibition, education, and production.

AFF hosts a quarterly Open Projector Night, an open mic night for filmmaker, to allow anyone to show anything on the big screen. It’s a community event where filmmakers can get together, network, and show of their work.

Since it’s inception OPN has screened 125 short films, making up over 18 hours of Alaskan made entertainment.

AFF has hosted several workshops on independent filmmaking.

AFF Studios is the production arm of the Alaska Film Forum. A vital part of fulfilling our mission is encouraging local production. AFF Studios productions are films that are either created by Alaska Film Forum members or by community members who have sought production assistance from the Forum.

In 2011 AFF Studios partnered with local writer/director Matt Jardin to make Could’ve Been More a short personal film about past relationships. It has been incredibly well received, becoming a official selection at Louisville’s International Festival of Film, TromaDance Film Festiva, Never Sets Film Festival, and winning Runner Up at both the Fairbanks Film Festival and Anchorage International Film Festival.
AFF Studios will also be producing Matt Jardin’s new web series Exes.
